It was Eastern North Carolina’s night to shine at the Southeast Festival and Event Association annual convention in Nashville, TN! The NC Black Bear Festival was blessed to win four awards including “Best Event” in 8 Southeastern States with a budget under $75,000! The other festival sharing top honors for the night was the Fayetteville Dogwood Festival winning “Best Event” with a budget over $75,000.

Between the NC Black Bear Festival, Pickle Festival, Seafood Festival and the Fayetteville Dogwood Festival, we walked away with 9 awards. Only the host State of Tennessee with their 810 different festivals, won more awards than North Carolina.

In the 3 years we have been doing the Bear Fest, we have won Best New Festival in NC, Best Festival in NC and a host of other awards from the NC Assoc. of Festivals & Events. But it was additional affirmation of the NCAF&E’s judgement of Bear Fest when the Southeast Festival and Events Association came to the same conclusion regarding the quality of our event.

To God be the glory for allowing me to use my gifts and talents to help our community.
Tom Harrison, Washington County Travel & Tourism, Founder of Black Bear Fest.
