Bear Necessities Paddle

Registration is now open for the Bear Necessities Paddle on Saturday, June 2nd.

Launch and take-out will be at Mackeys Marina, 10 miles east of Plymouth.

Enjoy this scenic paddle with professional guide, Heber Coltrain, where you hear about the local history and ecology. You will have the opportunity to see a variety of plants and wildlife, including eagles, osprey, and various song birds. If the winds allow, this paddle will include a round trip into the Albemarle Sound, (just minutes downstream from Mackey Marina). Here you can paddle among ancient cypress trees standing in the water as sentinels, having witnessed sailing ships and by-gone days of commercial fisherman with boats laden with herring, striped bass, shad and white perch returning to Mackeys for processing.

Price: $30 - Includes breakfast snacks, water and T-shirt.
